Correct Recitation
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ordered his companions to take (learn) the Quran from four of the sahaba, and they were the best in recitation, that they could learn from them the correct techniques and how the revelation was pronounced.
Beautification of Recitation
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) instructed, “adorn the Quran with your voices” (Ibn Maajah). Tajweed enhances the beauty of recitation, making it more melodious and engaging.
Reverence for the Quran
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, “The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Quran will be with the honorable and obedient scribes (angels)” (Sahih Bukhari). Proper recitation with tajweed reflects respect and reverence for the Quran.
Spiritual Benefits
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mentioned, “[Whoever recites a letter] from Allah’s Book, then he receives the reward from it, and the reward of ten the like of it.” (At-Tirmidhi). Correct recitation with Tajweed maximizes these rewards.
Prevention of Errors
Incorrect pronunciation can alter the meaning of the Quranic text. Tajweed prevents such mistakes, ensuring the message is conveyed accurately. It emphasizes the importance of reciting the Quran correctly. Tajweed is essential for Quran recitation, ensuring Muslims recite the Quran accurately, beautifully, and reverently, as emphasized in Islamic teachings.
