Encouragement of Beautiful Recitation

Allah says, “And recite the Quran in a slow, measured rhythmic tone” (Quran 73:4). This verse encourages reciting the Quran in a deliberate and melodious manner, which enhances its beauty and impact.

Spiritual Rewards

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) stated, “The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Quran will be with the honorable and obedient scribes (angels), and he who recites the Quran and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have a double reward” (Sahih Bukhari). Beautifying one’s recitation is part of striving for proficiency and excellence in reciting the Quran.

Emotional Impact

The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Indeed, the one who does not have the Quran inside him (his heart), is like the ruined house” (Tirmidhi). A beautiful recitation can deeply affect the hearts and minds of both the reciter and listeners, fostering a stronger connection to the Quran.

Creating a Positive Atmosphere

The Prophet (PBUH) encouraged the companions to recite the Quran in a manner that would uplift and inspire others. He said, “Adorn the Quran with your voices” (Abu Dawood). This emphasizes that a beautiful recitation can create a spiritually uplifting and inspiring atmosphere for the community.

The Prophet’s Praise for Abu Musa’s Melodious Recitation

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) himself had a beautiful and moving recitation. Companions like Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari was known for his melodious voice, and the Prophet praised his recitation, saying, “You have been given a voice like the voice of David” (Sahih Muslim)
